Starts at 10.45am at the war memorial in the 1940s – 1960s High Street. Following the two minutes silence and readings, there will be a short service in the chapel in the village about 11.20am.

(IT) will provide a phone and amp to play the last post at 11am followed by a silence of 2 minutes ending with the Reveille.

Programme concept:

It’s spooky season and we’re inviting ghouls, ghosts and guests to Black Country Living Museum to celebrate the scariest night of the year! This is a family friendly event with something for all the family to enjoy across our themed zones:

• Mine scare experience – A free flowing interactive scare experience (suitable for visitors 10+)
• Witches houses – Visit one or all of the 3 houses to meet our spooky yet friendly witches; find our what potions they’re brewing (witches with cauldrons in Jerushah, Toll & Pits)
• Spooky factory fun – Rose Events Interactive Tiny Circus & Rhythmic Unity Fire Show, alternating.
• Haunted House – A walk through Frankenstein experience
• SciFi Street – Daleks, Doctor Who characters and Frankenstein show in the Town. Fancy dress parade will also culminate here.
• Creepy creatures – Nature’s Burrow Animal Show (in school)
• Trick or treat party village – U.V Disco in W.I and trick or treating down OBR, the village and station Road with street entertainment interspersed.

*There will also be roaming cosplayers, circus performers and musicians across site.

**The Boat Dock will not be open.

Programme concept:

• A fun-family themed programme highlighting the grim realities and unpleasantness of life in the past, along with strange, mysterious occurrences in the Black Country. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore some of the unpleasant occupations of the past, Edwardian plumbing or the lack of! Meet interesting characters and engage with activities to further their learning.
• What was a Night Soil Man? How did he complete his work? And who was the famous Hairy Kelly?
• How have people explained away strange sightings in the sky over time, and has this been influence by science fiction?
• What is distracting the pupil’s attention away from their work in St. James’s school?

Programme concept:

Join us on Saturday 18 October for an unforgettable evening as the Museum comes alive with the vibrant sights, sounds, and spirit of Diwali at Festival of Light.

Feel the rhythm with live music and dance from the heart of our 1940s–60s town to every corner of the Museum as we light up our historic streets.

Witness a dazzling lantern procession as it illuminates the night and winds its way through our historic cobbled streets in a brilliant display of light and colour.

Get creative with Rangoli workshops and help our artist craft stunning floral masterpieces, take part in cultural crafts, discover beautiful light installations illuminating the Museum grounds, alongside your usual favourite Museum fittle you can tuck into authentic South Asian cuisine provided by Jolly’s catering, and explore interactive lessons about Diwali in St. James’ School.

Whether you’re coming to dance, create, learn, or simply soak in the atmosphere, Festival of Light promises an evening full of joy, culture, and connection. Bring your friends and family and be part of this spectacular celebration of Diwali.

• Saturday 27 September
• 7pm – 10.30pm

• An evening of entertainment including live music, dance and an emphasis on 1920s/30s fashion. Visitors will be encouraged to dress up and emulate their favourite characters from the show. Our HC team will be populating the site in role, representing themes, characters, and scenarios from the show.
• To immerse visitors in the world of the Peaky Blinders, with an industrial set, live 20’s music and entertainment. Visitors are invited to participate, observe and enjoy street scenes, dancing and dress up to look the part!

Tell your friends and family they can start their Christmas celebrations off the right way by immersing themselves in Christmas cheer. Your friends and family can gather work friends together on Thursday 11 December for a festive do with a difference!
