Programme Concept:

A showcase of Black Country Vehicles from our collection. The weekend will include displays of vehicles around the site and then a cavalcade showcasing iconic vehicles from Black Country History.

Even our horses will get the chance to shine pulling their cart, before we showcase bikes, cars, and finally our ‘specials’ – unique vehicles from our collection that only come out on special occasions, be sure not to miss the Ice Cream Box Tricycle Race!

We will also play host to a number of vintage vehicles travelling from all over the Midlands and beyond to showcase at BCLM over the weekend!

• The entertainment was absolutely fantastic. I took my parents and they couldn’t stop singing along. Especially to the Ska-waddy band. It was a lovely vibe to the experience and quite nostalgic to my parents. A really well thought out evening. A big well done to the team.
• Staff were extremely helpful in particular driver of Dorris who took us down to the bottom & came for our return journey back up the hill. Without this we cld not have enjoyed the evening. Entertainment especially the Beatles’ tribute grp was absolutely great.
• Not enough food and drink outlets ques was long and tiring for someone with disabilities but Apart from that was a good evening the park area was a nightmare to get around with wheelchair with all clothing stands but band was nice to watch and listen too
• Loads better this year than last year it seems u listened to your customers and with everything being open , shops , pubs , events stalls etc and even fun bingo at the school the whole evening was FAB-TASTIC
• The authentic atmosphere and the engagement by the role playing characters throughout the whole area
• “Dusty Tart” in the gay flamingo was amazing! It was very informative and entertaining- lot of laughs!!
• Definitely make it a daytime and evening ticket to enable people to spend more time (and money) Not enough time in 3 and half hours especially when queuing for food and drinks
• Good atmosphere, didn’t have to Wait for fish and chips
• Absolutely amazing to see the BCLM embracing the history of LGBTQ+ and making elements of the history “alive” today
• Admit less people, I felt there were too many people present which detracted massively from the enjoyment and comfort of the evening.
• I really enjoyed the event. But there were just too many people and not enough facilities. We spent a huge amount of time queuing even just to use the bathroom, which spoilt the event slightly for us. It would be better if ticket sales were limited or if facilities were adequate for that number of people
• We loved the live music in the park and on the stage. The 1960s dj played great music opposite the chip shop and the dancers were brilliant. The vintage stalls in the park were lovely to look around whilst listening to the music. Had chips and ice cream in the sunshine – perfect. I lost my Fitbit and someone had very kindly handed it in so all in all a brilliant day. We love coming to the BCLM – it’s my husbands favourite place to visit. We love looking around the whole site and will hopefully be back many times this year. Thank you
• The chap at the Gay Flamingo Club was very knowledgeable and friendly .
• We didn’t feel that there were as many characters interacting than on previous visits

• 97% of visitors rated their overall experience of the programme as “good” or “excellent” (70% voted excellent!)
• 93% of visitors agreed that they had “learnt something new about Black Country Heritage”
• 90% of visitors agreed that they “felt like they had the opportunity to participate”
• 48% of visitors used their Trail which is typically higher than average usage, and it scored a rating of 82% for quality.
• 39% of visitors were first time visitors

• Visitors repeatedly mentioned that they felt like there was a lot to do and see, as well as friendly and knowledgeable staff.
• Visitors mentioned that there cost of additional onsite purchases (car park, food and drink) were high, that they didn’t feel orientated by the map and that there was inconsistency in terms of visitor engagement:

“We really enjoyed the visit… Always enjoyable, very cleverly set out, always clean and tidy! I find it is quite hit and miss with the levels of interaction in certain ‘shops’ ‘houses’ etc some staff/volunteers are very willing to talk and share knowledge & interact in character, with some choosing to just sit and not interact.”
