Internal Event Description:
Exploring Living Industrial History, when the factories and industry in the area made the Black Country ‘Red By Night’! Featuring steam action, industrial demonstrations, and (for the evening event) live entertainment.
Buildings will operate as normal but with a particular focus on industrial buildings and relevant characters. We will have more industrial buildings open, such as Lenches and the lady chain makers, as well as operating the Anchor Forge and colliery engine with steam.
Relevant information for the event:
Talking points in these buildings will also consider the environmental impact of the region’s industrial history. We will have steam engines positioned across the site over the weekend, and we will also be launching and showcasing the new Industrial Quarter!

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! This year, we achieved our highest participation ever in the ticket swap scheme, and it’s truly wonderful to witness so many of our colleagues getting involved and expressing their excitement.
With such overwhelming participation, it’s understandable that not everyone was successful on the ballot. If you were not successful, please know that we have reached out to each individual personally via email to notify them.
For those who were successful, congratulations! Your tickets await you at the People & Culture Office. Please feel free to drop by at your convenience to collect them.

Once again we are excited to be taking part in National Lottery Open Week! Taking part in this national campaign gives us an opportunity to say a big thank you to National Lottery players, whose support makes arts and cultural projects possible via the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Our offer is free entry for Lottery players on Friday 15 March. Visitors can book via our website and details about how to book can be found here.
We are expecting our free day to be popular with visitors, with almost 800 booked in so far for a bostin’ day out!

Exciting news!
We are teaming up with The National Express to offer all colleagues a Try-before-you-buy ticket to encourage new passengers onto the region’s buses.
The incentive scheme offers colleagues the opportunity to sign up for 4 weeks of free travel.
It is hoped that this scheme will encourage more people to make the long-term switch to bus travel and help keep more bus services on the road, fewer private cars, and reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the West Midlands, helping to achieve the #wm2041 goal of a net zero carbon region in two decades.
This incredible incentive is available through a Swift card or mobile app.

Additionally, we’re excited to announce the launch of our very own BCLM Bookworm Book Club, meeting regularly in Canalside Meeting Room on Tuesdays at 1:00pm starting from Tuesday 5th March 2024. It’s a fantastic opportunity to delve deeper into captivating stories and engage in lively discussions with fellow book enthusiasts.
This exciting initiative will officially launch on 7th March 2024, coinciding with World Book Day
