Can everyone please remember that the metal vehicle gates at the side of the Visitor Centre should not be used to access/egress site after 10am even if they are open.
These gates are on a timer and fitted with sensors, so while they would not cause injury, we do still need to lead by example and not encourage visitors to access site using this method.
The pedestrian gate should always be used to gain access and entry from site during opening hours.

The fire at The Crooked House, Himley, is obviously devastating news, after the recent sale seemed to offer a future for the building, albeit with a new use. Unfortunately, the Museum was not in a position to save, let alone relocate, the building. Our hope remains, despite the fire, that The Crooked House can, and will, be restored, and once again have a sustainable use at Himley.

We’re pleased to share that from this Monday, 7 Aug, the Woodside Library build contract will start.
The company (Gravitas) will begin to bring in some heavy duty equipment from Monday. As such, the Museum will need to put in some temporary measures to ensure that all colleagues, contractors and guests are safe.

Hot on the heels of opening the row of six shops we’re now working hard to plan the opening of the next phases of the Forging Ahead development.
The dates we are working to are as follows. We would be grateful if you could keep this information confidential, as Audiences & Communications will be running campaigns ahead of each opening to build excitement so we want to keep the opening dates under wraps for now.

What will the ‘Health & Wellbeing Group’ do?
BCLM’s new Health & Wellbeing Group’s mission is to foster a nurturing and inclusive space within the Museum that promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being for all colleagues. We aim to cultivate a sense of community and inspire positive lifestyle choices by offering a diverse range of engaging activities, educational programs, and resources that empower colleagues to support their general health and happiness.
As part of this we would like to understand what our colleagues would like from the group, as such could you please complete this short survey by Monday 14 August, 2023. We will share the results Museum-wide in the coming weeks.

Dudley Council has launched a public consultation on Portersfield, a major regeneration opportunity in Dudley town centre. The consultation is open to all, and we have been asked to promote it by Dudley Council. Read the news release, issued 26 July.
What is the Portersfield public consultation?
The Portersfield public consultation refers to the land to the rear of Dudley Bus Station, where Cavendish House was once located. Dudley Council’s vision for this site is to better connect Kate’s Hill to the town centre to create an attractive arrival point into the town for the new interchange, improve public spaces, restore character and improve pedestrian and cycling facilities and movement.

The questionnaire can be completed via the link or by completing hard copies of the questionnaire, which are available at Dudley Library. Dudley Council has advised that they are in the process of setting up engagement sessions for the public, which will be held in person and virtually.
