  • Do you have a great idea for a Museum event?

    We’re looking for ideas to develop the Museum’s programme of events for next year and beyond.

  • Spinsonic SEND Sensory Circus

    Spinsonic SEND Sensory Circus will be visiting BCLM on Tuesday 13 August. Up to 50 children with additional needs from the Dudley area, aged 16 and under, along with siblings and parents/carers will join in the inclusive and relaxed circus skills play session from 10am-12pm in Hall 2.

    Activities include ground based circus skills comprising: juggling balls, rings and scarves, hula hoops, plate spinning, pedal goes, starter stilts, diabolo, poi spinning, balance beam, free standing slackline, flower sticks, walk the rolling drum. There will also be a chill out corner with circus play tents, tunnels, books, cushions.

  • Community Roadshow

    It’s that time again for the Community Roadshow as we journey to Halesowen Carnival on 6th July and Stourbridge Carnival on 7th July!

    We are interested to hear from anyone who remembers the Co-op on Stourbridge Road, to help us in our recreation as part of Forging Ahead. Researcher Clare Weston will be joining us and collecting real stories from real people.

  • Community Roadshow Update

    We’re rolling up our sleeves this weekend as we embark on a non-stop Community Roadshow journey. Join us at the following events starting on Friday 28 June at Celebrate Sandwell located in the West Bromwich Town Hall,  Upper Gornal Fun day in the Recreation Ground on Saturday 29 June and finishing off at Himley Hall for our annual Armed Forces Day on Sunday.

    BCLM will continue to call for memories of the Historic Gas Showroom which was located in West Bromwich High Street between 1940s-60s at Celebrate Sandwell and will collect memories for Stanton’s record and Music shop at Upper Gornal Fun Day.

    We will be commemorating the lives of men and women in the Armed Forces on Sunday 30 June 11am-5pm.  Armed Forces Day at Himley Hall is a FREE family event including vintage fairground rides, Punch and Judy shows and craft, food and vintage stalls.  An array of Historical Characters will be attending this event courtesy of Black Country Players. There will also be paintballing, provided by Dudley Army Cadet Force and an archery range, provided by Kingswinford Air Cadet Squadron.

  • Summer Social Winners – Team Pitt’s Cott!

    Team Pitt’s Cott were last night’s Summer Staff & Volunteer Social champions, congratulations to Tony, June, Margaret, John, Tony, George, Ann, Beth, Deb and Barry! We will get your winning vouchers to you as soon as possible.

    And a big thank you to everyone who came along yesterday and joined in the fun and questionable games!

  • Windrush Generation

    On Saturday 22 June from 10am-4pm, BCLM will be co-hosting its first Windrush celebration, working in partnership with High Oak Youth and Community Church. The event aims to celebrate, educate and commemorate 71 years of the Windrush Generation who arrived in 1950-60s and contributed towards the rebuilding of Britain after the war years. We will be joined by former Labour MP Ian Christopher Austin on the day.

    All activities will take place in Halls 1&2 showcasing a rich tapestry of taster workshops, performances, music and presentations. We will be joined by other African Caribbean Elders from London and Nottingham.

    Tickets for this event have sold out.

  • National Stitch Day

    BCLM will be celebrating National Stitch Day on Saturday 22 June. The Wolverhampton Embroiderers’ Guild will be joining forces with our own Knit and Natter group in the main visitors reception. Come along and add a stitch to our collaborative artwork designed for our major development Project, Forging Ahead.

    During this event we will be collecting memories of E. Minett ladies’ clothes and haberdashery shop in Wednesbury. There’s no need to book, just turn up!

  • Staff and Volunteer Summer Social Evening

    We are pleased to announce that the date of Tuesday 25 June 2019 has been put aside for this year’s Summer Social Evening to be held in Folkes Park.

    The evening, which will include food and drink, will start at 5.30pm and conclude around 8.00pm. If you have any ideas for the evening and/or would like to join the small organising team, please speak to Ben in the HR Team.

  • Celebrating Success for Volunteers’ Week

    All volunteers are invited to join us for a simple buffet lunch and refreshments to celebrate the success of our volunteers.

  • Annual Trustee & Staff Event

    We will be holding the Annual Trustee & Staff Event on Thursday 30 May at 5.30pm (until 6.30pm) in Hall 2.  This is an opportunity for staff to meet Trustees and vice versa, for the Board to set out their most important strategic issues and for staff to ask questions about them.  It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the success of the Museum over the past year, particularly with regards to BCLM: Forging Ahead.

    More details about the format will follow shortly, but please save the date.
