Let’s extend a warm welcome to our latest additions, who have joined the Museum this month;
Amelia Marks, Finance Assistant. Amelia has stepped into the Finance team, where her expertise will contribute to the seamless execution of our daily finance operations.
Laura Dudley, Development Coordinator, joins us and later this month, Alice Gibbons, Corporate Sales & Development Coordinator. Laura and Alice are the newest members of our Development Team, bringing fresh perspectives and valuable skills to enhance our museum’s growth and outreach.

Farewells
In December we bid adieu to John Ryan, Duty Manager and Gail Davies, Site Cleaner. Both John and Gail retired after dedicating their time and efforts to our Museum for the past 12 & 23 years respectively. We appreciate their hard work and wish them a fulfilling retirement. John may return to the Museum sometime in the future in a Casual Capacity.
We will be bidding a sad farewell to our Directors of Development, Carolyn Sankey and Vicki Stanley. Both Carolyn and Vicki have job shared the post of Director of Development.
Carolyn was appointed as the Museum’s first Director of Development (fundraising) in 2011 and Vicki took on the role as maternity cover in 2013. For the past 10 years they have job shared the role and established the Development team from scratch, carrying out fundraising, membership, business partnerships, venue hire and filming. Carolyn and Vicki have been instrumental in developing relationships with numerous stakeholders such as Arts Council England and National Lottery Heritage Fund, in turn securing millions of pounds of investment in the Museum, most recently for Forging Ahead.
Carolyn leaves on 25th January to take up the role of Director of Development for The National Forest – the first broadleaf forest to be created for the nation in over 1000 years, across 200 square miles of central England, and Vicki leaves in March to take on a senior role in the national Philanthropy team at the Canal & River Trust.
To all our departing colleagues, we wish you the best.

Welcomes
This month we welcomed the following colleagues;
• Adam Finney, Enterprise Team Manager (Operational Delivery). Adam will be working alongside the Enterprise Management team to oversee the daily front of house operations.
• Hollie Newey, Bookings Administrator. Hollie joins the Ticketing team to support Programme Development with the administrative delivery of the Museum’s Key Stage 1 ‘Little Makers project’.
• Grace Rea and Jane Hodgkiss, as Site Cleaners in the Cleaning & Recycling team.

Farewells
We have this month bid farewell to Jordan Ball, Finance Assistant, who has left the Museum after 8 years to further her career in accounting and Jacqueline Lee, Enterprise Supervisor, who has decided after 3 years at the Museum to explore a career outside of Food & Drink/Hospitality.
We wish Jordan and Jacqui all the best in their future endeavours. -

Welcomes
Earlier this month, the Museum welcomed the following new colleagues:
• Daniel James, who has joined us as a Commis Chef and can be found in the E&C kitchen.
• Katarzyna Plucienniczak and Kurt Billingham have joined us as Enterprise Team Members, Kat will focus primarily on supporting events while Kurt will support across enterprise units.
• David Foster, who took on the role of Audiences and Communications Coordinator is based in Canal Side.
• Charlie Moon joins us as Museum Welcome Administrator for a fixed-term maternity cover for Lana Grinko. Charlie is based in the Leaning Centre in Rolfe Street.
• Jake Ensor, our new IT Technician apprentice, will work alongside Andy and Luke.
A big black country welcome to all of the above. -

Welcomes
Earlier this month we welcomed Drew Rhodes, Site Cleaner, Megan Greaves, Enterprise Team Member (Gift), Chris Hough, Painter and Valarie Plummer, Little Makers Coordinator, all bring a wealth of experience to the Museum and we are glad to have them on board.
We also welcomed a number of casual workers to our Enterprise Team, to support Events.
Farewells
We will be saying farewell Hannah Jameson (Development Coordinator), Hannah has secured a role at Compton Verney to be nearer to her family.
Bonnie Wilkes (Enterprise Team Manager) will also be sadly leaving the Museum this month.

Sadly departed
Our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Phil Vaughn (Historic Character Team) who sadly passed away earlier this month. Phil left the Museum in 2017 and will be greatly missed by all. If colleagues would like to enquire about funeral details please email [email protected]. -

Farewells
We will this month be saying farewell Laura Gibson (Collections Coordinator), Laura was on a temporary contract and has secured a permanent role at the Fashion Museum and to be nearer to her family in Bath.
Martin Meads (Painter) and Elizabeth Taylor Enterprise Team Member will also be sadly leaving the Museum this month.

Earlier this month we welcomed a number of casual workers, to Admissions & Welcome and Historic Character Teams, to support the busy summer ahead.
Farewells
After 30 years, Kerry Marson left the Museum at the end of June. Kerry will remain a friend of the Museum and will hopefully return as a volunteer in the future.
Toward the end of this month, we will sadly say farewell to two colleagues of the Museum, Emily Smith and Lewis Turner.
Lewis leaves us to further develop his skills in the events industry. Lewis joined the Museum as a casual before securing permanent employment as an Enterprise Team Member and most recently supported as a Supervisor within the Enterprise team.
Emily leaves us after securing the exciting position of Senior Digital Marketing Executive at London Transport Museum. Emily has been instrumental in our marketing and building our social media presence, particularly TikTok.
We wish all our colleagues the best in their future endeavors.
Sadly departed
Our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Keith Peckmore (Transport Team Volunteer from 2011 – 2023) who sadly passed away earlier this month. Keith enjoyed a long and distinguished career developing and building classic British sports cars for Kieft and Frisky. Keith loved volunteering within the Transport team at the Museum and mixing with colleagues and will be greatly missed by all. Welcomes
Earlier this month we welcomed Melanie Penn, Cleaning & Recycling Manager, Yasmine Beddall, Talent & Development Coordinator and Jozey Grae, Public Programme Producer.
Melanie will oversee the Cleaning team, coordinating the planning and scheduling of cleaning operations across the Museum. Melanie brings over 30 years’ experience in hospitality, housekeeping management and operations, having previously worked at The Grand Hotel, The Copthorne and within The Royal Household. Melanie will be with us initially for one day a week, joining us on a full time basis from mid-July.
Yasmine joins the People & Culture team and will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of recruitment and training across the Museum. Yasmine has a wealth of knowledge in the recruitment sector, having previously worked as a Senior Candidate Consultant at Adecco.
Jozey will be supporting the Programme development team in the creation and delivery of the Museum’s public programmes. Jozey is an experienced freelance arts worker who has managed and supported on a variety of projects in family visitor attraction entertainment, in addition to being the co-founder of an Arts Council funded theatre company.
Farewells
Towards end of last month we sadly said farewell to two long term colleagues of the Museum, Chris Corfield and Mavis Clarke. Both Mavis and Chris have been a key part of the Museum’s history, with a combined service of over 21 years.
Andy Hannon from the Visitor Welcome & Admissions team, left earlier this month to explore a career in Property Management. Andy joined the Museum as a casual before securing permanent employment as Visitor Welcome & Admissions Team Member, and most recently supported with the interim management of the Visitor Welcome team.
Sarah Doherty from the Collection team left us in May after securing an exciting permanent position with Chambers of commerce in London. Beth Taylor, also from the Collections team, is due to leave us at the end of June when their fixed term contract comes to an end. Beth has secured a fantastic opportunity at the City of London Corporation.
After a short extension Andy Curtis left us earlier this month now that the New Historic Town is finally built.
We also said goodbye to Helen Doherty from our Enterprise team, who worked mostly within our Gift shop.

Other People News
Steve Amos, casual Historic Character, has been appointed as casual Duty Manager within the Engagement Operations Team.
Sofia Kendrick-Higgs, casual Enterprise Team Member, has taken on some additional work as a casual Research Assistant within the Interpretation & Research team.
Tom Dipple started a new role within the Programme Development team earlier this month, Programme Development Manager (Education). Tom will be leading the development and co-ordination of the Little Makers project.
Following the appointment of Yasmine to the People & Culture team, Ricki Boden moves into the role of Volunteer Coordinator supporting with the engagement and retention of the Museum’s Volunteer community, in addition to managing the recruitment of new volunteers roles, work experience and work placement opportunities.
Hayley Boswell progresses into the role People & Culture Manager, and Susannah Green, People & Culture Advisor. Together they will continue to provide knowledgeable HR guidance/support and act as trusted advisors to both staff and managers as appropriate.

The Staff Consultative Forum (SCF) plays a key communication and discussion role in many significant matters affecting all colleagues across the Museum. The next SCF meeting is being held on Tuesday 23 May 2023 and your representatives will be happy to hear from you with regards to matters that impact the Museum.
