Finding up-to-date policies and forms on the Intranet

We’d like to remind colleagues how to access the most up-to-date policies and forms.

    • Go to Useful Documents in the main menu.

    • Select the area relevant to you (casual, hourly, salaried, volunteers, or management).

    • Within each area, you’ll find documents organised by category, all of these are kept up to date.

In addition, under Useful Documents – Management (at the bottom of the page), you can also access:

    • Storytelling notes.

    • Brand guidelines.

    • Inclusive storytelling language guide.

    • Directory of Museum buildings.

    • Our Bostin’ Promise policy.

Please note: we don’t recommend using the search bar in the top-right corner to look for policies, as this may bring up old intranet articles from previous years. The correct way to find current documents is through the Useful Documents section, as outlined above.

  • Sunday 7 September, 3pm – Emergency Alert Test

Sunday 7 September, 3pm – Emergency Alert Test

The Government will be testing the Emergency Alerts system this Sunday, and your phone is likely to make a loud noise even if it’s on silent. If you are working in a visitor facing role on Sunday, please be mindful of this if you need to have your phone with you in your station.

What is the Emergency Alerts test?

On Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm, the government will carry out a national test of the Emergency Alerts system. This means most mobile phones and tablets across the UK will receive a test message, accompanied by a loud siren-like sound and vibration that will last for about 10 seconds.

The message you receive will clearly state that this is a test and that no action is required on your part. The alert will come through even if your device is set to silent mode, which is an important feature of the system designed to ensure people receive warnings in genuine emergencies.

To find out more about the test, please visit the Government website.

  • Funded travel for our colleagues.

    Funded travel for our colleagues.

    Exciting news!

We are teaming up with The National Express to offer all colleagues a Try-before-you-buy ticket to encourage new passengers onto the region’s buses.

The incentive scheme offers colleagues the opportunity to sign up for 4 weeks of free travel.

It is hoped that this scheme will encourage more people to make the long-term switch to bus travel and help keep more bus services on the road, fewer private cars, and reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the West Midlands, helping to achieve the #wm2041 goal of a net zero carbon region in two decades.

This incredible incentive is available through a Swift card or mobile app.

If you are interested in signing up, or for more information please email [email protected]

There will also be a representative from the National Express visiting the Museum on Wednesday 10th April, 9am-12pm and Thursday April 18th, 1:30pm-4:30pm in Visitor Centre, where you will be able to sign up instantly.

  • Staff Discounts

    Staff Discounts

The Enterprise team is excited to launch a new till system across all food and beverage units w/c 3rd July.

This follows a great amount of work from many teams over numerous months, to select, develop and implement this new system.

The team has taken the opportunity to carefully censor-check all product pricing as items and recipes are loaded into the new database.

Following this careful review, the temporary trial of a higher, 50% rate of staff discount specifically for food made at the Museum will end on 3rd July. Staff discounts across all food and drink products (with the exception of alcohol, where no discount exists), will revert to the standard 25% discount.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

Whilst showcasing traditional activities throughout the Museum, they hope to engage with staff and visitors about their experiences of moving and settling in the Black Country.
