  • Beat The Street!

Its here!!! Dudley borough has been transformed into a giant game, and everyone is invited to play.

Beat the Street is a free game that helps communities get outdoors, get healthy and have fun together. The game lasts for six weeks and takes place between 29 June and 10 August. These dates coincide with the Commonwealth Games period and are part of the celebration of the Games coming to the West Midlands

Schools will be taking part, but workplaces and community groups are also invited to compete against each other, so why not join our  team – Bostin Bclm?

In Beat The Street you can walk, cycle, scoot or roll across your area to win points and boost your physical and mental health.

Contactless sensors called Beat Boxes have been placed across Dudley Borough, with 1 just outside the Museum. To start playing, hover a Beat the Street card next to a Beat Box until it beeps and flashes, then walk, cycle, run, scoot or roll to the next Beat Box within an hour and do it again. Each Box visited earns 10 points for you and your team.

Workplaces and community groups across the borough will compete against each other on a total and average leader board in a bid to win hundreds of pounds worth of Decathlon vouchers. Individuals can also win random spot prizes across the six weeks. There will also be in house prizes for our teams with the most points!

Beat the Street Dudley has been commissioned by Dudley Council and the Canal and River Trust with support from the National Lottery via Sport England. It is being delivered by Intelligent Health.

Are you ready? Why not join our lunch time team walk every Wednesday at 13:00, meeting in Rolf Street. Post your adventures to social media using #beathtestreet #BostinBclm.

Any questions, or to collect a card to start playing please see a member of the People & Culture Team.

Please find below the details of the Museum’s MHFAs should you wish to have a supportive conversation with someone about your wellbeing. MHFAs can also signpost you to useful resources and professional help and support. Please be assured that any contact and discussion with a MHFA will remain confidential between the two of you.

In line with the latest Government guidance this week setting out the plans for ‘Living with Covid 19’, from Thursday 24 February 2022 there is no longer a requirement for those who test positive to self-isolate. Consistent with other sickness absence, we do not expect individuals to come to work if they feel unwell and have symptoms that may impact the health of other colleagues. Individuals should follow the normal absence reporting procedures. Covid related absences will be recorded and monitored in line with the Museum’s absence policy.

There is no longer a legal requirement for close contacts who are not fully vaccinated to self-isolate, or for those who are fully vaccinated close contacts to do daily testing. Individuals are encouraged to exercise caution and observe Covid safe behaviors.
