Did you know that there are currently 14.1 million disabled people living in the UK and 19% of working age adults are disabled?
Curating for Change is looking to transform the museum sector by creating a cultural shift in attitudes towards disability. It will start to address the significant gap in access and employment across the heritage sector which, to date, had been largely ignored.
Disabled people are more than twice as likely to be unemployed as non-disabled people. The inequalities are further accentuated within the museum sector workforce, with only 4% defining as D/deaf or disabled.

I am very excited to be joining the Black Country Living Museum as part of the Curating for Change programme. I am passionate about representing underrepresented groups in museum collections because I am deaf myself.” – Claudia.
