Arrangements have been made for the Canal Lifting Bridge to have essential maintenance undertaken on Tuesday 10th January, which will mean that the bridge will be out of action for most of the day.
Access over to the boat dock will only be possible via the footpath alongside the sea scouts whilst the work is being undertaken.

Some of you may have seen a photograph on our social media platforms last night – a photo of a mine safety lamp standing proudly on a heap of coal. This is the start of a social media series of images and videos that will tease the reopening of ‘Into the Thick’, our underground mine experience.
Although we are not confirming a date to the general public yet, we are aiming to have the underground mine experience open within the next month.
Please do share our social media posts to help build excitement, but please don’t share the date of the reopening on social media yet.
More information will be shared over the coming weeks for those who have never experienced ‘Into the Thick’.
The funeral of George Price, a long-serving volunteer at the Museum, has been arranged at Rowley Regis Crematorium for 11.30am on Thursday 12 January.
A wake will be held at the Museum directly afterwards (expected to start around 12.30/1.00pm) in the Bottle & Glass. Please note: the Bottle & Glass will be closed on this day to allow for this private event.

Audiences & Communications are looking for two families to take part in filming in the Drift Mine for the upcoming relaunch.
We are looking for:

Filming will take place on Sat 7 January from 9am and is expected to take a maximum of 4 hours.
The member of staff involved will be paid their usual hourly rate for taking part and will also receive a £50 one4all voucher for the family to spend.
In order to accurately reflect the Museum’s audience, we’re keen to ensure a variety of people are represented in the photos. We would like to include people of a variety of ethnicities.

All participants must sign a consent form to agree that all footage and photography taken on the day may be used by the Museum in all promotional mediums, including social platforms.
Inspired by the extraordinary true story, new ITV drama Stonehouse stars Matthew Macfadyen as the ambitious British politician, and Labour MP for Wednesbury and Walsall North, who, in 1974, hatched an outlandish plan to disappear. It has been dramatised for TV by acclaimed writer John Preston (A Very English Scandal) and is directed by Jon S. Baird (Stan & Ollie, which incidentally also used BCLM as a location).
BCLM provided the location for several of the scenes in the series, notably Bradburn & Wedge garage, the Workers’ Institute and the cinema.
You can watch the three-part series on ITV1 from Mon 2 Jan, 9pm (full series available on ITVX from Wednesday 4 January).

Paving works to the rear of Hartills continue week commencing 12 December.
Access to Hartills Offices will continue to be limited Monday and Tuesday, with a narrow path to the back door via the archway.
Wednesday and Thursday there will be no access to Hartills Offices via the back door. Access will be through Hartills motorcycle shop. Duty Managers will open Hartills motorcycle shop at 8am and close it again at 6pm. As we are open to visitors, please may we keep traffic though the shop to a minimum.
